I made this necklace and earrings set for an article on making paper beads in the November/December issue of Scrapbook News + Review. The original paper (Hobby Lobby) had a bullseye design that I actually didn’t like, but I liked the colors. Once I had finished the beads, I thought it would go great with just some simple wood beads (Cousin Corp.) and the set is actually so light you can almost forget you’re wearing it!

For a different way to finish off your beads, you can emboss them. Simply thread the bead onto a needle tool or embossing tool and roll the bead (be sure the coverage is complete) onto an embossing ink pad such as Versamark.

Then coat the bead in clear embossing powder and heat. While the surface is still wet and melted, roll another layer of powder on and heat that. You can add additional layers until the bead is as smooth and glossy as you’d like.

Yes, I saw these in Scrapbook News and Review. I’ll definitely try this one, but I don’t know where to buy the clear embossing powder. Hope they have in here. Another gorgeous necklace and earrings, love them.
Hugs,
Arlene
Thanks for the tip on making the beads! A friend went to Uganda recently and brought me one of these necklaces. I want to make one now! Thanks for sharing!!!
