A new pendant medium!

So far I’ve only done one piece with this and it’s actually a keychain rather than a pendant, but pendants are why I purchased this and got inspired.  So once I get some playtime I’ll show some examples!

So anyways. This is actually TILE.  From Lowe’s!  It comes like this.

So that’s 72 pieces for I think it was $5 or $6!  The pieces are about 1″x2″.  I WISH I could find it in a white or non-glossy but haven’t come across one yet.  At least Lowe’s doesn’t have one.  I’ll check Menards next time I get up there but in the meantime, am loving these!  They’re heavy, so you have to use a super heavy duty epoxy to attach a bail.  In the example above, I used a ceramic bead.  It took three attempts with three different adhesives.  PITA.  A regular jewelry bail seems to attach much better.  Still need a strong epoxy though.  The piece above I simply stamped with this adorable stamp (which is much bigger, of several trees) from Unity Stamp Company.  Funny – this was one of my freebies on their Hip Hop Thursday (definitely good deals on those days!!!  Not to mention the great eye candy on all their designer blogs!) and it’s my favorite that came in with that order, lol!  I used a Sharpie to fill in the initials (it’s for a friend of mine who recently got married) then used a paintbrush to gloss over it with Future Floor Finish to seal it.  The edges are simply a leafing pen in copper.
